State Capitol Grounds

Centennial Building

Centennial Building

658 Cedar Street
Built: 1956-58
Style: Corportate International
Archictects: Thorshov and Cerny
The Centennial Building, named in honor of the hundredth anniversary of statehood. Many were unhappy with the inferior designs of the Centennial Building, the Transportation Building and the Armory and in 1967 the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Commission was formed to preserve the Capitol building, prepare plans for the Capitol area, and conduct competitions for new buildings in the area. The commission, later renamed a Board has influenced all aspects of the Capitol area to this day

Comment: (204.32.213.163) I believe Thorshov was a communist and wanted to destroy America. How else can you explain this building?

Comment: (141.149.185.215) This building is misunderstood and deserves more credit than it has been given.

Current rating: 1.50 : Excellent
