South Summit Avenue: Grotto to Avon

776 Summit Avenue
Built: 1901
Style: Victorian / Mildly Colonial

The owner of the house was Mrs. C. G. McCarthy according to the building permit, but the city directory lists Timothy J. McCarty (not McCarthy) living at this address. Timothy J. McCarty was a ticket clerk for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Omaha Railway. The house was designed by architect J. W. Stevens and constructed for an estimated $6,000.
