The house, built for an estimated $10,000 for W. W. Bishop who was a real estate agent. Later in 1919 this house was Known as Mrs. Charles Porterfield's Boardinghouse, operated by Katherine Porterfield the widow of Charles Porterfield. The boardinghouse was frequented by F. Scott Fitzgerald, who often visited his friends Donald Ogden Stewart and John DeQuedville Briggs there in 1919.
