North Summit Avenue: Farrington to Virgina

Edward N. Sauders House

Edward N. Sauders House

323 Summit Avenue
Built: 1892
Style: Victorian Romanesque / Renaissance Revival
The first house on the lot was built of stone in 1863 for John Roche, city comptroller. The house was razed in 1892. The present house was built that same year for Saunders, who was president and treasurer of the Northwestern Fuel Company. The house has also served as a convent for the Cathedral of St. Paul.

Comment: (12.104.244.38) I wish the current owner would do something with this beautiful home; it is presently in great disrepair...

Comment: (12.75.134.82) This home always looks in need of restoration but nothing is done I understand it is costly but it is a hosue that can be georgeous, but in its current state makes Summit Avenue look bad

Comment: I dont think it makes Summit look bad. It is sad to see though. From what I have been told the house has been in one family for some time and the current owner is elderly, with no close family.

Comment: this house is beautiful. like people you cant judge it by outward appearances

Comment: This is a beautiful home. If it is in the same family for a long time it is no doubt loved and appreciated even if it isn't restored to your standards. I agree with the above comment - you can't judge by outward appearances!

Comment: Just walked by this house the other day - it is in very bad shape with 4 old cars parked in the drive. (2 of them are Yugos!)

Comment: very sad to see

Comment: this home deserves a complete restoration

Comment: Just because this house does not live up to your richy rich standards of living. If it looks so bad to you,,open up your checkbook and do something about it.
