Wagner - Marty House

Wagner - Marty House

38 Irvine Park
Built: ca. 1858
Style: Greek Revival

This house was moved here in 1983 It was originally built in Woodbury Township and was moved to accommodate construction of Interstate 94.
The house was built by Nicholas and Barbara Wagner who probably used it as a summer home. He was a wagonmaker and blacksmith and lived with his wife and nine children in St. Paul in a house at Ninth and St. Peter Streets. In 1865 Sofia Marty bought the house. She and her husband had immigrated to Stillwater in the 1850s and eventually farmed about 400 acres.
